wawita baby carrier

The system of baby carrier as a bandolier historically comes from several indigenous cultures in which mother's and baby’s posture and the contact between them is prevalent and fundamental for the emotional development of the kid.
It is used from the first day of life to two years of age.
This system is recommended by WHO, the World Health Organization, for its huge benefits for the mother and the baby.

Starting at what age can Wawita be used?
Wawita is used from the moment of birth to two years of age. There are different positions that vary according to the age of the baby and the parents' need. It is also recommended for premature babies.

Which is the position of a newborn baby?
The baby lies down with the upper part of his back and his head held by a padded pillow. Wawita lets the baby keep the fetal position he had in the mother’s womb.

How much weight does it support?
Wawita is used with a baby up to 15 kilograms, which is the average weight of a two year old child.

Does Mummy’s back support the weight?

Yes, Wawita system is based on the distribution of the baby’s weight between one shoulder and the opposite hip of the parents, unlike other systems which pull the weight of the baby forwards.
Wawita has a padded section which supports the thoracic vertebrae of parents and frees lumbar ones from the weight, and therefore it is a really anatomical system for babies’ and parents’ backbones.

Doesn’t the baby fall?
No, it is a safe system because there is no space left between the Wawita and the body of the parents. Furthermore, it has a safety system consisting of a belt and three rings that lock themselves with the weight of the baby.

Is it safe?
Yes, the safety system consists of acetal resin rings, tested for an average of 80 to 120 kg resistance.

Is it comfortable for the baby?
Yes, the baby is carried in the same position as if he was picked up by its parents. The baby feels parents' heart beats and breathing and this provides him containment and safety.

What kind of cloth is used to manufacture it?
Wawita is made of cotton fiber cloths, with padded sides and an inner pillow that holds the baby’s head.

Does it come in different models and sizes?
It comes in two sizes which can be regulated by means of rings and belt. The model is always the same, only colors change.

IMPORTANTE: The baby should not remain deep-set inside the Wawita or with his neck bent; the baby’s head has to come out of the Wawita. If you have any questions about its use, please send a mail or make a phone call to the company so that you can receive the right instructions..

From the age of 0 to 3 months
Put the baby carrier as a bandolier so that the belt is to the back and the cushion to the front, the rings remain below the shoulder.
Close the padded sides over the pillow to lean the baby’s head, and then open the Wawita at the bottom’s baby level to wrap all his body.
The baby should remain lying at the level of his mother's breast. Adjust the belt until you obtain the most comfortable position.
Remember to lift the baby's weight so that the belt slides.

From the age of 3 to 4 months
Put the Wawita in such a way that the cushion remains as a shoulder pad.
The baby can lie down to the front of his mum with his bottom held by one of the padded sides.
Remember to lift the weight with one hand and to adjust the belt with the other hand.
When the baby is asleep or you want to carry him lying down, put his head to the contrary side of the rings, so that his feet can get out from the opposite side.
You can also carry him lying or half seated with his head to the rings side as when he was smaller, but now the belt should be less tightened, facing forwards and the cushion like a shoulder pad.
